I downloaded SETI@home on the day it was released, way back in 1999 (on a 33.6k modem, IIRC). It's the inspiration for Charity Engine!
(We're delighted to have Prof Anderson as an advisor, too.)

I, too, started SETI about the same time as You:

IIRC, SETI was released on 17 May 1999
I remember Myself and Many of My Friends comparing WU crunch times and then tweaking settings, adding hardware, overclocking etc!
And the Mac vs PC "Wars" back then as to who could crunch faster, RISC vs CISC...
All in Good Fun!!
