I just installed BOINC using aptitude from the CLI - everything seemed to install fine and I started the program with no problems.
Looking at the instructions, it says to cancel the Wizard > switch to Advanced View > find "Attach to Account Manager" > and enter the name of the website www.charityengine.com
But, I can't get past the advanced view because I can't find anywhere the "Attach to Account Manager".
Has there been a change in instructions with a new release?
Can someone please walk me through getting started and adding a project
I've just completed the process and was a little confused too. Instead of looking for "Attach to" Account Manager, there is an option to "Open" (?) Account Manager in the Tools menu. I can't remember what the wording was exactly but if you look again you should find it.
Hmm, that page is a bit more detailed, and seems to have the content I understood to be missing. Can you clarify what you think needs changing at Installation Instructions for Linux Users?
The instructions appear to be out of date given they state "(The "Advanced View' button is in the lower right of the "Simple View" layout)" - there is no button in the lower right of the Simple View layout,
there is no option in the Tools menu to "Attach to Account manager" - there is only "Use account manager",
the wording "when asked, enter www.charityengine.com..." is vague because the user is not "asked". Instead, it could say something like 'Replace the BAM Account manager URL (https://bam.boincstats.com/) with www.charityengine.com, click next, etc.'
Unfortunately, not all of us general or new users can intuit the subtle differences in application wording, which, to the developer, mean the same thing - some of us need clearer instructions. It could be likely many users have given up when they could not determine this specific information, resulting in fewer users contributing overall.
Sorry about that: yes, your right, that seems to be based on an older build of the Linux client. I don't have Linux on my machine, so that dropped the the cracks. We'll take a look and revise.

The wiki page has been updated, thanks for pointing this out!
FYI, the wiki page is here: Welcome Linux Users!
Thank you for the update.
This other page may need to be updated also:

Sure Matt;

Cheers.

Thank you Matt.
The revisions have been made -- thanks again, Peter.
Thank you, also, Tristan; the rapid community feedback is appreciated.
