The Million Core-Hour Challenge!

News - February 13, 2015

As seen in HPCwire and International Science Grid This Week, we are giving away four million core-hours of computing to the most worthwhile projects that contact us before midnight Feb 17th!

Any project, team, company, or individual may enter. All applications must use open-source software (or their own software, which can be ported for a fee) and be ethically sound.

Three overall winners will receive a million core-hours each, on up to 50,000 nodes, and can use them in any time frame from 48 hours to one month.

Furthermore, ten runners-up will each be awarded 100,000 core-hours of computing and all entrants will receive a 50% discount code towards their first purchase of run time on the Charity Engine grid (max 10M core-hours, terms and conditions apply).

To enter, just tell us about your project here. If we like it, you will win the computing.

Good luck!

$1000 - Steve Manister

Prize Winner - January 2, 2015

Hello! My name is Steve and I live in Bournemouth, England with my wife Melissa. I work in IT for a large US bank which has its European, Middle East and African Technology & Operations Centre based locally. In my free time I am a keen karter, racing World Formula Karts at tracks around the South of England.

I have been supporting Charity Engine since May 2012 when it was profiled by the BBC. It's a fantastic concept and deserves to become a success and I will certainly keep on recommending it to everyone I know. And of course, raising money for good causes with a chance of winning cash prizes whilst expending minimal effort? What's not to like? :-)

$1000 - Caleb Marhoover

Prize Winner - October 15, 2014

I am constantly curious, but not entirely sure whether I'm an overt optimist, or simply stubborn. A student of both the arts and sciences, my work synthesizes quantitative and qualitative inquiries into a holistic line of questioning about the nature of the world and my place within it.

I hold a BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati and will soon graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a BS in Geology.
